The gila-tic four .. or maybe more pleasing to the ears, the crazily adventurous lunatic four ..
- Jamie, Jean, Jason & Christine -
went out to town one day to shop for groceries. The day started, not perfectly fine, but still bearable. Jean couldnt get her internet account set up, so she went to the IT centre at the Daedeleus building. Irish, it seems are very much the same as Malaysians when it comes to customer service. "Time is not a factor" is their ultimate motto in serving customers... So, Jean waited and waited and waited .... with a promise made earlier,
Jamie : *no matter what, we'll wait you at the bus stop!*
Jean : *ok, promise?! Just wait me there!*
At the same time, Jean's and Jamie's cellphones ran out of battery. And true to the unlucky streak of adventure they're bound for, their cells could not be switched on, and even worst, Christine switched SIM card with Jean to allow Jason & Jamie to contact her ... BUT ... she couldnt remember her PIN code ! And Christine couldnt remember hers either. So there we have it, 2 phones, 1 with battery, 1 without. Both not usable.
Meanwhile, Jamie & Jason carried on with their activities. Grace, the ever-bubbly and cheerful Singaporean were supposed to go down town with the foursome. ** She patiently waited with Kien at the 46A bus stop outside UCD for Jason & Jamie to be there. After having walked for what seemed like forever, Jason & Jamie finally reached the bus stop, without Jean, who was no where to be found, and no way to be contacted. Grace didnt noe that Jean was to follow and immediately boarded the 145 bus that came along... Jamie & Jason stood there, stunned, stoned, whatever you call it... with hands at waving position, not to wave, but to actually STOP Grace ... But .. the door rolled close and there went Grace and Kien..
Jamie & Jason waited for Jean & Christine at the bus stop outside for a further 10 mins but to no avail. So they finally decided to walk back to campus to look for Jean. As true good friends, they just couldnt leave her alone no matter where she was. Walking back to the bus stop near Merville, Jamie spotted Jean & Christine walking back to Merville itself ! Oh, CRAP ! To shout? Noooo.... So many people were there .. and they wouldnt hear across the field. To run? Noooo.... Its too far! So Jamie & Jason walked all the way back to Merv to fetch Jean & Christine! As it turns out, they waited at the different bus stops for each other ... *slouchs*
As the gila-tic foursome reunited, they finally boarded the bus 10 and went their way to town! Oh, no! The adventure doesnt stop here ... Jamie wanted some vegs and decided to buy it roadside as it is cheaper.. But their seniors have warned them never to touch the fruits and vegs ... Cheap as it may be, the grocers do not allow customers to choose! So they walked along the street, as it was already late from all the misadventures, only 1 stall was left operating. They got there and touched his ginger. Suddenly! The grocerer picked many fruits and throw them 1 by 1 at Jean!!! He was, "Yeah babe! You take this! And this! Right babe!" The gila-tic foursome frozed. People were staring... And Wei Jiat, a guy Jamie & Jean met at the airport appeared out of the blue. Finally, the man sold them a whole 2 bags of fruits and vegs for only 10 Euro! Talk about bad luck! =) Poor Jason anyway, he had to carry so much weight!! 2 boxes of peaches, 1 box of pear, 1 courgette, 1 chinese cabbage, 1 packet of grapes, 1 bunch of banana ... and a whole lot of other things!
Jamie had earlier craved for Thorntons Chocolate Ice-Cream, but sadly, the shop was closed for the day... So they proceeded to Tesco for other groceries.
Done wif grocery shopping, they decided to head back home, tired and hungry. And blur. They flagged the 10 bus exactly where they stopped but the driver refused to allow them in. He said, "Number 10 district that side" and pointed a way 100 metres to the front. The GILA-TIC foursome RAN with all their might, with ALL the groceries, forcing their way through the looking crowd towards the the number 10 dstrict. Imagine how FAST they ran when they actually managed to board the bus, feeling pleased, proud and slightly embarassed! Until .... Jamie noticed that d bus fare was 1.40 instead of the paid 1.60 each. Jason, the ever cool dude says, JUST CHILL !
Being sceptical, Jamie & Christine turned to the back and asked a fellow Irish if the bus was to go to Belfield ..
Jamie * Do you know if this bus stops at Belfield?*
Irish * No, this one goes all the way to Phoenix Park. Its the other side of the route*
Jean * U mean, this one doesnt stop at Belfield?*
Irish *Nope, you've boarded the bus at the wrong side of the road!*
Gila-TIC four *SHIT!*
They pressed the stop button, got down the bus and walked all the way back to where the bus stop was, except now, this was on the opposite side, with no exact change of coins. Jamie flagged the bus, put her 1 leg in with Christine and asked the driver to wait while Jason goes off to find for exact change.
And that was how the adventures of the gila-tic four ended.
