OBITUARY

quintessential.blogspot.com

19 June 2007 - 8 March 2008

when she was brought to life one sunny afternoon just about less than a year ago, she knew her destiny was never too bright. her owner, seeing that blogging was one of the many 'in' things around, jumped on the bandwagon and like everyone else, created her just for the sole purpose of sharing inner thoughts and feelings, photographs, and many other nonsensical cetak rompak contents.

in the beginning, life was beautiful for Quintessential, in a land of blooming daffodils by day and twinkling stars by night. although born with a birth defect where she only looked black all her life, she didnt so much as to mind about her skin colour because thinking of her idol Optimus Prime, she had only one mission and only one in her mind - that is to serve her queen through and through. but never did she realise that as days passed her by like towns on a highway, her growing popularity had somewhat caused her to lose substance in her contents, all d time worrying about how others may react to certain subject matters and also the advice of a fellow relative to forbid the publishing of photographs.

days before she passed she led a very lonely, meaningless life.

her queen, well at least thats what she told me, got really caught up wif her own life and went into a state of remission where she only left Quintessential to dwell in the blogosphere alone. not only that, her queen began to write many incomplete posts and never bothered to finish them to be posted up. heck, even the only music in Quintessential's life became dry, boring and unattended with many broken links. remorseful as she might have felt, she never really did worry much because she trusted her queen would still care for her with TLC.

as the days passed, she began to feel the sharp excruciating pain of the after effects. she suddenly felt left-out, unbelonged to any social circle. not that she yearns to be a main character in any, but she only seeks acceptance. and not acceptance from any social circle, but the one she was in, the one she was so ever comfortable with, the one she thought she could spend her life together. the one where she serves her queen.

suddenly she felt lost in a whole big world. maybe she was just being sensitive, but the sensitivity became too overwhelming for her to bear.

she drew her last breath right after she gave me a light squeeze on the hand and shed a small isolated tear onto her cold and dark cheeks..

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be,
For my unconquerable soul,
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced or cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments is the scroll,

I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

everybody, now wave goodbye to quintessential.blogspot.com
bow, bow, applause!
i'm permanently changing my blog server to WORDPRESS..
wordpress allows its users to password-ise blogposts and i feel thats really fair cos usually the certain stuffs that i really wanna vent out sometimes are just kept in due to privacy issues.
n there have been so many occasions where i feel like writing something down but held back n decided against it.
so the new blog add : http://amaretti.wordpress.com
i havent posted anything in it yet, just set it up. within these few days, might change the template n all as well. add in some nice graphics at the top.

and why amaretti? last xmas, i visited my aunt in london n she gave me a tin of amaretti virginia almond macaroons-like-biscuits. tell u the truth, i spat the biscuit out when it first melted on my tongue. the smell of almond was just too overwhelming n besides, its bitter! but the thing is, i love the tin! fully imported from Italy with some italian words on it and nice colourful frilly wrappers.. at first look, i'd really thought it was gonna be one hell of a tasteful biscuit. so beautiful on the outside - which brings me to realise that although first impressions are often how we judge something or someone, we should really just get a taste of the thing or person first before we move on to make an 'ultimatum' of it.

j-amaretti ~ Just little bitter things.
Crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft inside.

p/s: quintessential.blogspot.com has the life of a phoenix. when the time is right, she will revive from her ashes..

IT SNOWED .........

the houses in Finlay Square

excuse my overly-excited-bad photography skills
i swear i'm not this lousy

and excuse my terrible-looking hair. n water-retention looking face.
i swear i'm gonna get a haircut during easter and
i swear i'm not that fat.
angles.. angles.. (i trimmed my own fringe with paper cutting scissors)

aww... winter sonata.
LOL! i'm gonna photoshop this pic, brighten the background n add more snowflakes!!

for the first time i'm in dublin, it really snowed!! n i swear its not sleet.. cos i went out to have a taste (literally) of it.. as i am sitting here in my room studying cardiac, i suddenly saw white flakes pouring down - and then i heard squeals from Mary Flegler living above me - and i wonder why she squealed considering the fact that shes from US.. maybe California ba, no snow there! so i immediately called Elaine - living 2 floors above me n 'forced' her to come down to sama-sama tangkap gambar. alone very weird ma.. LOL!

so kristina came down as well ! all of us clad in PJs, bra-less maybe i dunno bout two of them but i sure was and we braved the freaking cold, ran out snapped d pictures, ran back in, preview, half face taken, ran back out, and in, all d time our limbs shivering and shaking from the chill winter wind. after satisfying our hunger in camwhoring with the snowflakes, we turned to open the door to get back in House 13. OH UH!! ALL 3 of us did not bring keys out = ALL 3 of us stuck outside in the cold. we rang every possible apartment 1,3,4,5 .. for at least someone to come out and help us open the main door. and thanks to my neighbour-spanish-babe Julia Vianni, we finally managed to get in.

just another short but sweet experience on nature's wonders..

A Story of February 29 - The Leap Years

As with all love stories, fate is often described as the determining key to success.. Fate appears in different forms at different times and at different places.

ok, cut the crap.. apparently i'm having a serious writers block since my last post titled 'remission'. i've been trying to type sumthing out for the past hour but my attempts have just been futile and i really wanna write good 'stuffs' (i cant say review cos i havent watch the thing myself) about this movie cos it seems really good and promising. it plays with the theme on fate, very much like Serendipity..

i'd better not waste anymore time cos Cardiac and Vascular are up on Wed - half an hour each with 90 T/F statements. I cant really imagine whats the point of sitting for a half hour mid term exam answering 45 statements. Its so not proportionate to the amount of work the students have to put in. How can 12 lectures simply be judged by a certain half hour of a person's life?? i think one day i'll have to admit that i'm slowly turning into a geek. May this day never come! shoo..

here is the link to the website.. nuff said.

i'll post up all my half-written blogger drafts once the zest for writing returns.
On a lighter note, congrats to u, Charmine! You have gotten ur Fairytale of London. Heres to wishing you every success in it *clinks wine glasses*. i'm beginning to wonder if Fairytale of Dublin will ever exist..

toodles. looking forward to easter.

February 29

extract taken from The Star Online -

HOW cool would it be if you were born on Feb 29? You could be 80 and still tell everyone you’ve only celebrated 20 birthdays.

And there are some well-known people who could have employed that neat trick. They include the dawg himself Randy Jackson (of American Idol fame), former Indian prime minister Morarji Desai, rapper Ja Rule, American singer Dinah Shore, and American serial killer Aileen Wuornos (Charlize Theron played her in Monster).

In fact, to celebrate the leap year and leap year babies, the town of Anthony, Texas, organises a leap year festival. It proudly calls itself the leap year capital of the world and leap year “babies”, or leaplings, around the world come to its parade.

Nothing really significant in history has happened on Feb 29, although the people of Haiti might see it differently. It was four years ago to the day that power-hungry President Jean-Bertrand Aristide resigned.

There is also a lot of superstition and interesting tales that abound about leap years and the date itself. For instance, in Greece, people believe it is bad luck to get married in a leap year. On the other hand, in Ireland, women can propose to a man.

According to a tale dating back to fifth century Ireland, St Brigid complained to St Patrick that women had to wait too long for men to propose marriage, and so he decided that in a leap year, women could take the initiative. However, if some sources are to be believed, Brigid was still a girl when Patrick died, which would make her a very precocious child!

Then there’s talk of a Scottish law enacted in 1288 – although unsubstantiated – by the unmarried and supposedly five-year-old Queen Margaret that allowed women the right to corner a man with a proposal. Men who refused would have to pay a fine in the form of a kiss, a silk dress or a pair of gloves. Which would you have preferred?

There’s a similar custom in the United States that was born from the famous comic strip L’il Abner by American cartoonist Al Capp. In his fictional town of Dogpatch, there was a character called Sadie Hawkins, who couldn’t attract a husband because she was ugly. Her father then set up a day each year when women could literally chase after the bachelors in town in a race. The unlucky sod who is caught would have to marry the women who nabs him. While the event was held in November in the comic strip, it now seems to be associated with Feb 29.

Superstitious Chinese believe that more accidents and mishaps occur during the leap month in the lunar calendar. They also think that children born in that month are harder to bring up. Nor are they keen to start a business or get married then.

For some Indians, no auspicious occasion should be held during a leap day or month. While some go as far as to say that this should not occur during the whole leap year, others feel it is only every third leap year.

Thoroughly confused? Well, we end with another celebrity leapling. According to a Time magazine article, Superman’s birthday is on Feb 29. No wonder he never ages.

quite an interesting article.. just filling my sien-ness studying in the library since 5pm. Renal mid terms tmrw. so far so good.. supposedly went to dissection today with the intentions of revising more of d kidneys from DrM, unfortunately he's not there, but a 5th Med Chinese guy whos not sure of his facts half the time.. watever! weird demonstrators - one stutters, the other 'slobbers'..

oh well, back to renal. or maybe i should go propose ....

Birthday Wish

As of now.. 12.40 am GMT +0.00, 28th February 2008..
i am, 21.

but i am however a confused person..
i was presented a plate of banana brownies just this afternoon shaped in the letter 'J' with 3 candles. and i was, caught unaware! we were eating in the student centre and i was happily chewing away my usual Meal 7 Chicken Ciabata until a whole group of them came singing the Happy Birthday song. the 27th Feb is my other classmate, Eugene's birthday as well and i happily joined in serenading the song until it came to the part - Happy Birthday to JAMIE ~ n i realised i was the ONLY ONE saying ~ to EUGENE.. omg, malufying episode! but they brought in a second plate of brownie for Eugene too. n then, it was time to blow off the candles.

oops.
i dint know what to wish for.
i'm confused - can i only make ONE wish or endless wishes?
but i havent thought of any..
and the wax was melting..
i scrambled through my thoughts.
time IS running out.
but wat?
no, i cant make the wrong wish rite?
n then..
i think, i THINK, my brain formed some jumbled up wish which went -
*~~~~~~~~~*
(not supposed to tell ppl my wish)
which i think, wasnt a wish anyway.
i hope the gods wont take it/them accounted for.

tonite, before i close my eyes n go to bed, i'll think up the ONE most important special wish that will maybe change the 21st year of my life in a huge, radical, great, who-knows-romantic, crazy, fruitful, smart, substantial, academic, health, wealth, wise, fun, other-adjectives fashion.

happy birthday to me.

A Messsage to Someone Who Shares My Birthdate

Dear Ah Phor,

As i sit here writing u this letter, u are now in our living room listening to the god-damn same song from ur ipod for the past few days. sometimes i really wonder if there is anything wrong with ur hearing because, every time u switch on ur loud music u seem to think that its well, not loud and hence does not piss the crap out of us 3 other hsemates. and i noticed very well that starting Sem 2, u have a change of taste for music. Las sem, u repeatedly listened to those from High School Musical (HSM) 1 and 2, Britney's Gimme More, Leona Lewis's Bleeding Love, James Blunts' 1973 and many other techno clubbing-like music such as Timbaland's The Way I Are. Heck, u even killed my liking for a particular song in HSM1 - When There Was Me & You by Venessa Hudgens. But i forgive you for that because that song only brings out the emo-ness in me. Also, everytime i hear Gimme More or Bleeding Love being played anywhere else, my autonomic nervous system becomes instantly annoyed and irritated. Oh well, this sem, u have become somewhat more sentimental. U start listening and singing to the tunes of Dont Cry For Me Argentina and many other super slow love song cum oldies which titles i cant remember off hand right now. Although I HAVE TO agree that u have a good voice hence the potential to become an Irish Idol, it is absoloutely none of my concern. I am only concerned about the rate of how i am going, reading kidneys and rib cages and judging from the fact that this rate is so lagging because i cant concentrate with a background music, i just cant thank u enough for it.

Well, my dear Ah Phor, considering we share the same birthdate, there might be some percentage of possibility that we can communicate through telepathy? If u have any 'heart' problems relating to love and relationships, u can always talk to me. Or, if u've been feeling a little lonely, which explains also why this year u have been inviting ur whole bunch of friends of say about 6 of them in total over ever so often like at least 3 times a week, u could also share this feeling with me. I have an absolutely suitable partner for u. Our dai-dai has a stalker by the name of John who lives on the 2nd floor and he has a passion for techno music which explains the frequent blaring of sounds our neighbour has been complaining of too. We could set u both up on a blind date and if things jet off with much chemistry and fireworks, pls dont forget to thank us for our kindness and generosity.

Thinking again about ur hearing, u must now be very well aware of how loud voices can be especially when the door to the living room is open or there are people talking in the hallway. las nite, jie-jie n i were talking incessantly outside ur room at 1am about how a guy pulled open my window n stole a pack of jelly belly at 3.30 am n ran away while i was still wide awake, u opened ur door, showed ur sleepy face and told us to keep quiet. if u havent realised, i could do the same to u as well.

My dear Ah Phor, i really dont mean to hurt your feelings or anything with this letter, if u ever read them! which i dont think u will, because my blogger address is not shared to the world. so i guess this is more of a site for venting my frustration on u. pls forgive me for only understanding about 25% of what u say most of the time - ur accent is seriously too thick for me to handle. also, forgive me for writing this letter to you. u noe that i still love u, no matter what, from the bottom of my heart.. and i never meant a single day to hurt ur feelings. and oh, thanks a million for the Cadbury Roses chocolate u gave jie-jie n i for xmas.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AH PHOR ~!~!~!

xoxo,
Gor-gor

if u love someone of the same sex ...

right, before i even start typing this post, i just wanna say i really hope i wont offend anyone with what i am gonna say.. and that this post is not intended for anyone specifically. i'm merely expressing my curiosity to the wonders of the G world..

just this afternoon, i was browsing thru pictures of a friend in facebook. n then, i started to realise one thing - the friend that i knew since kindy, well we kinda lost touch in between after that but met again somewhere in our teenhood, is well, gay. like huh? n i mean the real gay not the highschool 'i admire my senior' kinda infatuation gay. how come all this time we spent together in the group never gave me the impression that he is one..? and as shock as i am, i clarified this with another friend and yup, its official.. and it had been like wat, 2 years since his parents knew so all this while.. oh my god.. i cant imagine.. n my problem here is not him being gay.. but oh my god, thank goodness i never flirted with him!

but theres one thing i might add... gays make women's best friend. really. u see, any straight guy, well hardly any straight guys are willing to follow gals go shopping, helping them choose the beautiful dress or the perfect stilettos, then never complain a single minute of it but in fact enjoys every second of the outing.. they are sensitive to a gal's needs and understand them inside out. in every way, they seem to be the gentleman of every gal's dreams. but theres only one problem - gays will NEVER fall in love with girls. what a waste right?

well, i'm curious.. what exactly goes thru the minds of gays? do they wish their body is different? or isit just their mind telling them .. i love someone of the same sex? how would they be high n make love, when their partners have exactly the same organ parts as they do? how do they even make love? anal sex? but thats not quite possible with two female right?

when do they actually discover they have no interest for someone the opposite gender? and say, if they havent come out public about it yet, how do they reject the advances of the opposite sex?

i guess... these are just part of the wonders of the universe. a part yet to be fully discovered.

and then, there is this highschool 'i admire my senior' infatuation scenario.. i personally find it rather amusing cos coming from an all-girls school for 11 years, i've had my fair shares of stories of it and i might add humbly, experiences as well. not experiences of admiring seniors but experiences of being admired. omg! thinking about it now, its just hillarious.. i must have looked like a 'taikor' back then to have attracted that amount.. but as crazy as everything seems, i kinda regret not playing along in the game - everytime i find out someone *ahem* me, i just stopped talking to the person.. cos omg, i have no idea how to communicate with a person who stares at u from the back so much, knows ur address and mails cards to u ever so often and has ur HOUSE telephone number to call u occasionally to ask u out for movies! its just, awkward..

ok, so what goes thru the minds of these people with that sort of infatuation? say if the person they admire is a girl, do they wish they were a guy, so that the girl will have a chance to return their infatuation? or how do they start 'admiring' the target? wait, i think thats a stupid question. its almost as if i'm asking 'how does a gal start liking a guy?'

ah, never mind!

* Peyton + Lucas = True Love Always *

omg. omg. omg.
lucas asked lindsey to marry him!
WITH THE RING HE USED TO PROPOSED TO PEYTON
why? why?
thats not supposed to happen...

right?
* Peyton + Lucas = True Love Always *

urgh, i wish i could go straight to LA, meet up with the writers and producers of One Tree Hill, have a lil chat over a meal wif them and find out once and for all, is LUCAS EVER GONNA BE WITH PEYTON AGAIN ?!? speaking of which, one of the producers of OTH is a malaysian.. gosh, no wonder OTH has so much drama to it. must be her ideas, growing up watching tvb, mediacorp, k-drama or even taiwan drama - plot so slow and whole day menangis (eww!)

no..... this is killing me..
oh, just to mention, i'm proclaiming, oops no, i proclaim-ED my love to Lucas Scott. (not Chad Michael Murray but Lucas...(ehh.. i just realised, I have something for Michaels in this world wan isit?) Luke is the best fiction character ever! did i just say fiction? oh no... thats not exactly one of the best words but anyway, u see... lucas scott has one of the smexiest pair of eyes anyone can ever have on this planet. i really cant explain further unless of course if u watch the show then u'll know ..

there was a cultural diversity day in UCD so the Malaysian booth offered free henna services n free roti jala. i of course, got my henna custom made.. just for the self proclamation..

but if any of u earthlings out there has never watched OTH, i would sincerely n highly recommend u to begin watching from dear old pilot episode in Season 1. no seriously, i beg u to.. i wait patiently for every wednesday afternoon to come, n i'll switch on my dear Dell right after class just to catch it.. heck i even missed World Aid Soc meeting on the AIDS pandemic in Africa today at 5pm cos i TOTALLY n COMPLETELY forgot ALL about it even though i've been promoting the event for everyone else to go for the past few days... sigh.!

been eating quite normally these past few days. home cooked food.. i even cooked chicken curry for dinner today, my first time attempting curry.. of cos with the serbuk gulai yin ye's mum brought for everyone from penang. its that cap keretapi brand from bagan ajam.. lol! always see that factory on the way to grandma's house.. anyway, just thought i'd practice a lil food taking photography skills with the macro mode since the plate is so nice n suitable with my supposedly 'oh chien' aka oyster omelette substituted with prawns i cooked during the weekends. obviously it needs alot of improvement since u cant see any crispy nor slimy parts on the omelette..

everything else aside, i've just been feeling very malas and inspiration-less this week. hopefully everything will get better.

hugs n kisses ... for lucas. <3

Crash & Burn

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and you feel like you can't take anymore

Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone

When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can't face the day

Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone

'Cause there has always been heartache and pain
And when it's over you'll breathe again
You'll breath again

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please
To tame your wild wild heart

Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone

King Whitney Junior once said, "Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better."
BUT
as Lynn Hall described in Where Have All The Tigers Gone?, "We did not change as we grew older, we just become more clearly ourselves"

Christina Rosseti once said, "Silence is more musical than any song."
In our life's journey, Martin Luther King Jr might be true that
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
BUT
as contradicting as he may be, I truly agree that "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

Pay Attention-LAH !

First-year students at Med School were receiving their first anatomy class with a real dead human body. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet. Professor Abraham Jacoby started the class by telling them, “In medicine, it is necessary to have 2 important qualities as a doctor. The first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the human body.”

For an example, the Professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the corpse, withdrew it and stuck his finger in his mouth. “Go ahead and do the same thing,” he told his students. The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the butt of the dead body and sucking on it. When everyone had finished, the Professor looked at them and told them, “The second most important quality is observation.

” I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger.”

“Now learn to pay attention!”

i created my own drama - II

after buying the antibiotics from the pharmacy, Sue told me she'd walk me back to Merville and boy, was i lucky there was Sue by my side. somehow, its spring today, but the weather only gets colder so for the past few days, it was really really cold. as i was walking back, i felt the - i wanna faint - feeling coming back but i told myself to stand it, Merville isnt too far away. And when we reached the road leading to Merville, we stopped. i swayed. if u asked me, i would say it was rather embarassing to be led in the middle of the road looking tired, out of place and useless. luckily, i did bathe in the morning so i dint look that bad...

as we walked further down the block, i turned to the bush. n puked. again! wat else is left in my system? nothing! oh god, why do i keep throwing out... so Sue suggested i'd just sit on one of the entrance to a house. my house 13 is just about 100 metres away, no big deal right? wrong. so i sat there, 2 secs later, and my stomach decided to throw things out again. this time, god knows wat came out - alot of liquid i would say, white, yellow (and i never had eggs for so many days). and then, my hands became numb. my legs i couldnt feel them, they're all pins n needles. n that sensation spread to all over my body... i just couldnt feel anything. i know my hands were frozen cos i couldnt move them. n before i knew it, i was already lying down on the pavement. at that point of time, only one thing struck my mind - I MUZ MOVE MY HANDS ! if blood doesnt go there, what will happen? paralysed? Nooooo... my hands are too important for me. i cant lose them. i need them. i need them for my career. i need them to look at patients. i need them if ever one day i become a cardiologist.

and somewhere faraway in my mind, i heard Sue.
"Jamie, i think u better go to the hospital. i'll call the ambulance okay?"
----
"Jamie, stay with me ok? stay with me. U muz stay with me, ok?"
----
"Sue, call Grace.. handphone.. pocket ... call Grace"
----

and everything after that was a blur to me.. Grace came. Alot of other passer-bys came. they offered their jacket to put on me. Then the ambulance came. i was brought up onto the ambulance wif a stretcher. new experience huh? Grace and Sue came along and when we reached the hospital, it was yet another long wait to be attended.

they took my blood samples, ECG, chest x-ray (new experience again - the radiology room memang damn cold wei..) and put me on 2 packs of IV fluid. like Grace said, "u dunwan drink water, they go for the painful way". as i was lying down on the bed beside Grace, i told her i hoped this whole procedure wont cost a bomb. i mean wat with ecg n xray... i'll be broke! just last Friday i heard Dr Bund telling us that its 200eur to haf an ECG at Blackrock Hospital! but as it turns out, everything was alright. i walked out SVUH without paying a single euro! how cool is that? both of us were like ... okay, lets just walk out n not say anything ... haha! n the funny part was, Grace said maybe they'll send a full invoice/bill over to my place but (=P) apparently, she accidentally gave them my wrong address..

i missed my heart dissection class today. Emily said Mikey was cool today cos he marah-ed the other noisy people from other groups when he tried to teach mine. i hope he'll be there again on this Friday when i join the other group. meanwhile, heres to me in a hope of feeling much better n kicking by Monday! *cheers*

i created my own drama

so i was sick, n still am, though i hate to be cos it sucks. my whole system feels all crappy n its such an indescribable feeling that when nikita asked - how do i feel - i gave her a one word answer - complicated -

it all started off with some minor purging on noon friday after my Service Learning electives (damn i was suffering in there k!) luckily Quinn's Sch Of Business is right beside Merville so i managed to get home n .. ok, lets not get into details.

then on Sat night, everything just went downhill. i shivered, no, i shook.. yes, shook - like a drug addict (at least thats how i portray them to be when they're high) over the night so i got up n took a paracetamol n texted Grace at about 5am to briefly let her know that i'm not really feeling well. i couldnt even hold my cell properly...

Sunday morn was a huge blur, i couldnt stand, couldnt even sit up, my head was spinning n i just didnt haf d balance so i slept through the whole day. at the same time, my sinus is just getting really bad i can hardly breathe already.. n cos its this bad naughty viral sinus, it got to my head, forehead, wherever it can go n caused a huge pain there.. so besides waking up for medicine i did nothing else. oh, n christine cooked some porridge for me, with mushrooms, carrots, scallops n some either chicken or pork i haf no clue of.

Monday was equally bad. this time i only survived on biscuits n milk Grace brought over.. n i thought i was feeling slightly better in the evening, i cooked my seafood noodles but never even ate half of the whole packet. by then, i was also sick of sleeping, so i started watching some tvb drama called The Ultimate Crime Fighter which only made me feel worse because they had so many ppl dying in the first 4 episodes. now thats not exactly one of the best things to watch when u're so under the weather..

Tuesday came.. it was raining. i told myself no matter what i need to brave myself n walk to the health centre some 30 minutes of baby steps away. thought of attending my one single class of the day at 11 but decided against it in d last minute n boy, it was a damn good decision. at 11.30, i puked big time. i only had a slice of bread n milk, so guess what came out. thank goodness i got ready my lifesaver my pail in my room since the last few days cos that - complicated - feeling i've got is just damn bothering! go away! anyway, i thought i was the hero after puking so i washed up the pail n cleaned it, put on 3 layers of clothes excluding my bra (cos according to some people bras account for 1 layer, omglah!), hoodie and another layer of jacket n set out to the health centre with my red umbrella. i swear the weather had to be extra windy that day. anyway, by the time i was 3/4 there, the - i wanna faint - feeling came. Met a groupmate on the way and while talking like few words to her, i could almost feel myself swaying sideways, front ways, backways so i said goodbye n continued taking my baby steps. n when i finaaaalllyyy reached the student centre i just reached for the nearest chair. my pulse was racing, my head was spinning, my forehead was burning but my limbs were shivering ... i reached for my phone. *Christine, where are you? i'm in student centre now. come quick i think i'm gonna faint soon* before i knew it, there were like 5 ppl around me already - i think Tegpal, Ajay, Peng Wei, Sue a 3rd year, Charles a 2nd year and i cant remember who else - and there was me holdin onto my other lifesaver my Reads plastic bag.

so before i create more drama where theres so many ppl around, christine n Sue brought me up to the health centre where i freaking waited for a doctor for TWO freaking hours! now i understand why people tell me Irish healthcare system is not one of the best. n yup, i puked again there, practically nothing much came out cos i nvr drank nor ate anything, just sips of water. n then went for the check up. Dr Sandra said its viral sinus, something like that thats causing this whole episode and while checking me discovered some ectopic heart beats so she suggested me to go for an ECG at St Vincents Uni Hosp (SVUH - i think its one of the best hospitals in Dublin) when i'm better.

Let me go off the topic a while... Last Friday afternoon after Service Learning n after my toilet experience i ran all d way back to Health Science for my ECG practical with Dr Stuart Bund, hence i can proudly say i now know how to operate an ECG machine. in this practical, our male groupmate was the subject and we're supposed to place the round things with gel on his chest. Dr Bund here actually made a remark that made me realise something. He said "common, u guys are gonna be doctors. surely u haf to get used to touching a human's body?" and it hit me!! how come i can touch a cadaver's body so well, feel it, play with the skin, the everything but yet, ALL of us find it so hard to be the first to touch Conor's chest to feel for his fourth thoracic n so on? i mean common, its Conor-lah! Alive, warm and breathing.. wif loads of chest bulu summore!

i actually need to rest now. the real drama begins after this. to be continued.

Better Days

After a wholesome meal of chicken ciabata, peppered fries and hot chocolate, she walked across the student centre n off to the health science building with a friend. A friend whose name she doesnt even know of. how weird. but of course, of the 200 odd people in her class, its no wonder she doesnt remember her classmates' names after a whole semester - for the reasons of one, they all look alike, two, she just couldnt really be bothered, except the panas ones ..

As she stepped into the cold room, changed into her lab coat and ready, she scanned the room. She was early.. Only a few other classmates were there, and only one moderator. Hrmm.. prossection.. Easy pissy! No need for dissection kit, no need for anatomy book. So as she looked around the room, her hopes werent too high, she knew exactly what she was looking for but it is after all a new sem, so maybe a new set of moderators? The crowd started pouring in, more students, more moderators.

So she took a place right at a spot so familiar, and sniffed an altogether familiar smell.. she looked down at the wrapped object and observed the size of it - the dimensions. Yup! Should be Mr Old Guy alright... No one else should be as big built as he was. And looked up to see 2 moderators standing right in front of her. No Mikey.. Her heart sank a lil deeper..

Moderator 1, the chief of moderators was a rather young and handsome guy. He looks big and strong, the macho kinda guy. He was telling Mod 2 which table to go, and suddenly, she heard,

Mod1 *theres Mikey coming in!*
J's ears *auricles flop open! Oooo??*
Mod1 *Alright, u can take d 2 tables at the back*
J's eyes *heart, wait... i'll scan the room first, just to make sure!*
J's heart *better be him...*
J's eyes *Oh shit! OMG its him!!!*
J's lips *awww... yum yum chui siu*

somewhere, the girl's friend walked into the cold room and stood by her side..
Emily *From far also can see ur face smile till like dunno what nie.. Dunit ask aso noe whats happening!*

J's lips *that obvious??*
J's left ventricle *stress........ do u actually need to pump that hard? take care of dear aorta, children*
J's brain *pls!pls!pls! come to my table! pls!*

Incidentally, Mikey walked over to her table to meet Mod1. And at that very moment when Mod1 pointed another table to Mikey, her heart just, dropped, skipped a beat, flustered, burnt. But wait, Mikey didnt budge.. oh no..

Mikey *i dont really see any familiar faces. how come i dont remember?*
Mod1 *maybe u can take those groups.. (points some few metres away)*
Mikey's eyes *i'm looking at you, yes, YOU*
Mikey *have i taken u guys before?*

J's mouth *YES!, YOU're with US!*

Mikey *oh yeah, i definitely remember you.*

J's lips *=D*
J's reflex part of the brain *of cos, look who's working overtime here each day u step into this cold room? who's the one who was sacrificed to impress a real surgeon? not Dr Burke, not McDreamy, its Dr Mikey we're talking about here!*

Mikey *ok, i'll take you guys... Anyone's got a dissection kit? Anatomy book?*

oh uh! Thought it was a prossection. As it happens, it wasnt a prossection, it was a dissection! Mikey pointed to the girl to start trying to take out the whole heart of Mr. Old Guy. Thank her lucky stars, another groupmate had brought hers along. phew. it was THE best dissection for her, mainly because she dissected the heart, took it out, and went through it all smoothly with her other irish groupmates. it was THE heart. and moreover she had somewhere around a 3 minute chat with Mikey and Mikey alone after the class and discovered more of him than any of her other comrades would..

It wasnt anything. It was just one of her better days.

Dinner : Chilli Prawns

of dreams n reality

Kahlil Gibran once wrote,

"To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to do"

looking back at the previous post that i was tagged, there was a question - If u can have 2 dreams to come true, what would it be?
n i answered one of them as to being able to fly an aeroplane.. tonite, i suddenly thought of another, one that i haf been dreaming of in a long long time, but pushed to the back of my head ...

i dream, i can travel the world.

so many here have travelled to so many places - all shown in their albums in FB.. spain, paris, belgium, rome, venice, milan, london, austria, prague, vienna n the list goes on.. from past experiences, i find that while travelling, it is so highly important that we go with the right people, people who so happen has the same frequency of thoughts as ourselves.. and while i'm here in europe, of cos, it is everyone of us here's dream to travel to as many places as we can, to open our eyes n hearts to the world.. but to me, as for now, i'll only travel to limited places, cos ...

mum, i promised i'll bring u for holidays.
so i'll wait.

Yesterday is but today's memory, tomorrow is today's dream.

no wonder

looking back at some of my blog posts, its no wonder i never managed to lose weight here ... i either keep talking bout food, drooling over them then make them myself or travel to eat them ... tsk tsk.

- sleep til u're hungry, eat til u're sleepy

- part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside

- food is our common ground; a universal experience

drooooooooooooooooooooling

over ......

DIM SUM !

tonite, i'm having cravings for dim sum! i think people who dunno me might actually think i'm a craving-y, whole-day-thinking-bout-food pregnant lady!! but seriously, when u're at a place where good food was so abundant n then u move to someplace where its even difficult to find a shop selling dim sum on pushcarts, u become the pregnant craving-y lady...

so, where oh where in dublin are there any dim sum restaurants whipping up salivating steaming hot dim sum ? n ON ppushcarts mind u, not those deep fried prawn rolls or sesame balls...

har kau, chai tau kueh, siu mai, phitan choke, prawn chee cheong fun
*closes my eyes n imagines the taste of them, the succulent fresh prawns in the har kau, dipped in chili sauce, the phitan choke - hot from the pot, with deep fried ginger at the top with the right amount of phitan, chai tau kueh - crispy on the outside soft n smooth on the inside; slurp, ahhh .. heaven...*

oh gosh!
grr.. grr... stomach got sound already!

XIAO LONG BAO

this was an adventurous outing at 5 am - before sunrise.

Kena tagged ...

just ended my marathon drama watching streak of 30 episodes of TVB's On The First Beat which is actually the part2 sequel to The Academy. i still remember i bought the academy dvds back home n watched it. thought it was rather boring cos those police cadets were always n i mean ALWAYS marching n there wasnt much action. n true to the tvb tradition, u just hafta shed some tear in most dramas dont u? i did, in the academy. i thought this sequel would be different.. but damn. its d same old thing.. last episode, someone has to die! they make u fall in love with the character, know him/her inside out, make him/her fall in love with the hero/heroin of the show, then comes the 'yau yuin mo fan' part, then they got together n broke up, n when they finally realise they were meant to be together, BHAAM ! fcuk! she just has to die doesnt she? ishk! anyway, i think hollywood should learn a thing or two from their TVB peeps. if its anything to go by, most part 2 TVB dramas are comparatively better that their part 1s.

So here goes the tagging -

Remove 1 question from below, and add in your personal question, make it total 20 questions, then tag to 8 people in your list, list them out at the end of this post.

OTH

-looking for that one perfect pic of tree hill-

i love lucas scott. (but hey, i noe no guys are perfect!)
i love one tree hill.

ONE TREE HILL

My name is Lucas Scott.
Four years ago i graduated from high school with my friends ..

Brooke Davis moved to New York City and found success.
Peyton Sawyer moved to Los Angeles. Success didnt come so easily.
I wrote a novel .. from my editor Lindsey
My brother Nathan saw his dreams vanish, leaving his wife Haley and their son Jamie more fractured than ever.
Things have changed in four years.
But in many ways, this is just the beginning.

James Lucas Scott or Jamie
he's just one of the cutest lil boy ever..

lucas scott is the one kind of guy that i'll totally fall for and the kind i WANT to fall for. but i guess guys like him only appear in movies and novels. fiction character. gosh, i can imagine if he's like my husband n he plays with our lil son like that .. it'll be SO nice.. guys who love children scores extra points..

nathan n haley got off to a rough start in the beginning. guys who are whiny and dwells in the past are terrible!

and of course, this kinda guy is for display. but whatever happened to Chase? I want him back on Tree Hill.. badly....

the day this happens will be the best episode in OTH..
oh it will !
now, if only the person holding the bouquet next to Lucas ..

4 Years. 6 Months. 2 Days

Sometimes it feels like it was yesterday
Graduating high school and saying goodbye
That feeling that you get at 17 or 18 that
nobody in the history in the world
has ever been this close
has ever loved as fiercely
or laughed as hard
or cared as much.

Sometimes it feels like it was yesterday
And sometimes it feels like someone else's memory.

Don't Love Me

once again, i find JLo terrificly impressive.
good melody, tragic lyrics.
great song.

success is like fire. i can see it and i can feel it !

n i can sure taste it.

My 2nd attempt in Hokkien Mee - SUCCESS !!! =D

early stage of the soup boiling

still boiling... see my scallop on top.

perfecto!

n of cos, what would hokkien mee be without deep friend shallots?

it would be like ... hrm ... sex without climax? u tell me!
lol.. i dont think there are any underaged ppl reading my blog right?
so the censorship board dont work overtime here.

damn proud k! see, earlier this morning i called ama n double confirmed how to cook it.. but then like i said earlier, i dun haf any blender or pestle n mortar so however good the ingredients are, the chillies will still make it suck rite.. right! so i kenot tahan de, wat the hell, bought all my ingredients takkan nvr cook meh, so off i went to town with great hopes that i'll be able to find a nice cheap blender, maybe hand blender will do cos its cheaper.. as it turns out, maybe my luck wasnt so good la, any type of hand blender, food processor n plastic or glass blenders are ALL sold out in Argos n the only available ones are those .. well ... above 50 eur. :S n weirdly, i asked the customer service counter when that particular russell hoobs or philips hand blender will be available, she said they're never coming back. huh!?! so i went to debenhams n got this hero, my life saver of the day, n many more days to come.. i can even make smoothies in it k.. n its not expensive too... considering its a full fledged proper blender. =P

n seriously with the presence of my hero, hokkien mee isnt very difficult to cook or time consuming either. i cooked everything from scratch, slicing the shallots n all in about 2 hours.
a few pictures to tempt ur taste buds ...

irish songs

there r a few irish kinda songs which are not bad...
i THINK they r irish cos they sound like something irish people would sing.

some examples would be like the 2 songs added to my playlist by The Pogues.
'm still trying to find the others to put in my playlist but they're not available. sigh.
they're such easy listening songs rite?
instead of the usual , quoted by Jolynn "Jamie y ur songs always so emo wan?"

lol.
i dun mean to haf emo songs but they're so happen nice songs n usually i like those original sound tracks of some certain romantic movie.. so i guess thats where the emo-ness come from lah. haha. anyways, try these few irish songs -

+ if i ever leave this world alive

I'm too free I haf nothing else better to do

but hey, i think the highlighted results r rather true..

You Are An INFP

The Idealist

You are creative with a great imagination, living in your own inner world.
Open minded and accepting, you strive for harmony in your important relationships.
It takes a long time for people to get to know you. You are hesitant to let people get close.
But once you care for someone, you do everything you can to help them grow and develop.

In love, you tend to have high (and often unrealistic) standards.
You are very sensitive. You tend to have intense feelings.

At work, you need to do something that expresses your personal values.
You would make an excellent writer, psychologist, or artist.

How you see yourself: Unselfish, empathetic, and spiritual

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Unrealistic, naive, and weak

Attempt 1 : FAILED

final product - tastes like sugar soup cos i think i added in a bit too much rock sugar
n i added a chilli paste which doesnt suit at all

woke up this morning n felt the enthusiasm to finally start cooking my Hokkien Mee. Earlier i found a blogsite of someone who cooks alot from Singapore n she has this Hokkien Mee recipe thats supposedly passed from her grandma.

so i thot yeah, y not i try making my own hokkien mee this time, dunit to ask Ama n see.. maybe she'll be so proud (fine, i'll be proud of myself that maybe i inherited her perfect tongue for taste) n as it turns out, i made this HUGE HUGE mistake by not asking Ama first. so my fist attempt in cooking hokkien mee from scratch failed miserably. =(

i knew that recipe sounded weird already ... it has star anise n cinammon stick n cloves in its recipe.. thats more like malay bihun soup ade rite!! mum called earlier n i briefly asked her n she told me NOT to add those but i thought like how much difference would it make if i add in 1 SMALL flower rite.. turns out - yucks! n moreover, i didnt haf a blender, food processor, or pestle n mortar so i kinda just pounded the dried chillies wif a ladle..

the amount of shallots i hafta slice

ATTEMPT 2 : coming up.

A blog of Food

after coming back from London, i find myself suddenly having this really really bad cravings for Penang food. not that i dont haf them earlier but this is like extreme cravings. i wanna eat food like Hokkien Mee, Chai Tau Kueh n Pineapple Tarts so much.. heck, even swiss rolls make me drool! no more takeaways - indian, chinese, pizza watsoever. i've had enough of those during the exam period! so today i went down to town in search of the ingredients to cook - HOKKIEN MEE ! i seriously haf NO IDEA how to cook it but following my instincts i'm just gonna try n produce this sumptous droolful dish as close as possible to Ama's. i dun haf any chilli paste so i'm gonna try n 'giling' (pound) the dried chillies myself with maybe a ... spoon !

i set out to asia market n damn it was one disappointing trip. there was no shallots n kangkung. how to cook tonite leh? n i thought of looking at the Hup Loong brand Penang Hokkien Mee packet to see wat else to buy n also maybe buy 1 packet to enhance flavour but dun haf also. think i'll go back to town tmrw lah! i'm so tempted to try n make pineapple tarts too but looks like the ingredients to buy are a lil bit TOO much, the flour n all. maybe Ham Cheem Paeng will be good - shit i'm hungry!!

butchered a chicken just now, separate the meat n the carcass to cook the prawn stock for hokkien mee. bought pork carcass from asia market too. the fridge is so nice after i cleaned it inside out yesterday. n its empty! lol! it sure feels good to haf d fridge all to myself temporarily now!

u noe how ppl say 'when u're given an inch u want a yard' .. i think thats wat i'm going thru wif my cravings ler. u see, when i was in London it was only natural to of course enjoy the holiday by having good food rite? 1st nite had chinese food - duck soup noodles n fried oyster omelette, 2nd nite indian food - garlic naan, lamb bhuna n chicken tikka masala, 3rd nite HAWKER FOOD - Hokkien Mee ( met up wif Aunty Ann staying in North London n she drove me to this food court selling char koay teow, hokkien mee, curry mee, roti canai, japanese food, korean food, etc. thing is, the food portion is so huge i could only manage 1 serving of hokkien mee, earlier i thought i could stuff myself with a big variety of food. oh n i had a cuppa Lo Han Kuo) 4th nite mcD - bbq pork chilli baguette, 5th nite home cooked food - one of the guy cooked Pan Mee, 6th nite home cooked food again - Pan Mee n i stir fried some chicken, 7th nite Chinese food - 6 dishes altogether it comes in that meal deal kinda thing n it was sorta a reunion thing for Charmine, Felicia n I. 8th nite Chinese again - cos its New Years eve n not many places is open n everywhere is filled to the brim, had Singapore fried vermicelli n shared some squids n prawns with Feli. 9th lunch Malaysian food - went to the UK malaysian hall n had nasi tomato with lamb curry, beef curry n squids curry. also, the most precious darn small cup of teh tarik. so u see where all my pounds went? food.

its only 8.35 pm now n i'm already SO hungry. i need to nibble nibble some Ham Cheem Paeng or Eu Char Koay or Swiss Roll or Secret Recipe Tiramisu or Chai Tau Kueh or Ban Chang Kueh or Tau Kua Chien or deep fried Spring Rolls or even better, Ama's prawn fritters with garlic chilli sauce! oh DAMN !

bumper !
