The duration of how we, the few, no, actually many, UCD-ians are able to hold on to our Friday nite dinner gatherings thus far has somewhat gone beyond my expectations and imaginations and seriously it has AMAZED quite a fair bit. Really!
I think of the many months, almost 3, that we've been here, we've only missed one week, and was quite luckily revived by Wai Onn.. lolx!
Sometimes, when i think of it, i laugh to myself! All of us, almost 25, partners each other, housemates la of cos and alternates the venue between Belgrove and Merville. And this gathering is really a perfect example of practise makes perfect. When we started off with this plan, I would darely say that most of the time, food was never enough. Each person would have probly just a small portion, but then we were still very happy and got on with it because its dis lil parties that actually kept us together and going, being a close-knit group of people... Sure, as humans are, there are times where we ALWAYS LOVE to say each other with much sarcasm... but of cos, deep inside, we know we never meant it and it's just purely for the name of fun!
The funniest thing is, we never got bored playing MAFIA ! Lolx! Almost every week, after everyone has filled their stomach, and mind if I say that for these past few weeks, food portion has grown increasingly in size, and in fact, sometimes there are left overs! which is of cos, a good thing, we'd all gather in the living room and start playing out typical mafia game, with Christine being really, the MAFIA BOSS ~ =D "There's been a bloody murder last nite!" and "I swear this Doctor is damn useless" .... and then everyone would start discussing bout who the mafias are, whoa... i tell you, we all haf really loud voices.. Surely, every week, there'd be at least one person not paying attention to the game but to the laptop instead! *tsk tsk.
Well, this week, it's mine and Tong's turn to play hosts. And the theme for this week is "Something you miss from HOME" ... Last week, after a well, nice discussion we all came to the conclusion that there will be - Mee Siam, Yong Chow Fried Rice, Lotus Root Soup, Spring Roll, Tikka vegetable curry, Green bean sago dessert, and some kinda Canadian dish maybe?, cos Ajay's bringing a few of them Canadian gals. Just the thought of these food makes me feel so hungry!! I guess the food that i miss most from home is still Ama's Hokkien Mee n Curry Mee. Nothing can ever beat that, huh?!
